Stories that grow.

Discover wild opera.

Outland Opera is a pioneering company of opera professionals producing exciting, site-specific work.

Outland takes the magic of immersive theatre one step further: each of our productions tells a story about the place in which it’s performed. We choose dramatic locations with an endangered folklore, where live opera has never been seen before.

Our first major composition project is The Stones Sing; an operatic triptych based on and at three spectacular locations in Dorset.

Coming soon: This Christmas, Outland Opera will be performing a brand-new promenade piece at several locations in Abbotsbury, using material from our Create project.

Outland’s first film!

We are currently producing our first ever film, a magical partner to our Christmas 2023 performance, The Song of Home.

The Stones Sing

We are currently working on our first major project of entirely new work, The Stones Sing, that sees Dorset artists Tom Floyd, Ruth Knight and Anna Rose-Prynn working on three short, hour-long operas to be performed by a small company of eight singers. Each opera is based on a Dorset place with a story and will be performed on-site. These operas are a community co-production with local residents and community partners.

We would like to thank our venue partners, who are helping us access each of the extraordinary locations: English Heritage, The Churches Conservation Trust, and Dorset Escape.

We would also like to thank our local community partners for their help and support.

We at Outland Opera gratefully acknowledge support from PRS Foundation supported by PRS Foundation’s The Open Fund.

We would also like to thank The Elmgrant Trust and The Valentine Trust for their vital contributions towards our Create programme and the Alice Ellen Cooper Dean Foundation for their invaluable support, without which our Lighthouse Sanctuary Residency couldn’t have taken place.
